Merry Christmas - and thanks for your support and friendship

Merry Christmas - and thanks for your support and friendship

On behalf of the whole team here at G.N. Badley & Sons, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your support and friendship during this unprecedented year.

2020 is a year none of us will forget in a hurry – and which I’m sure none of us want to see repeated either!

It’s forced us all to live and work differently, and adapt our lives in ways we could never have imagined would be necessary. There’s no getting away from the fact that it has been difficult at times.

Here at G.N. Badley & Sons, the new regime has meant putting in place a series of measures, including the installation of Covid-safe screens on our counters, enhanced sanitisation and cleaning systems, and the creation of a home delivery service for those who are unable to get to our store.

We tried to create a timed collection system this year to reduce queues in the run-up to Christmas and keep crowds of people to a minimum, but it didn’t quite go to plan.

But we are lucky to have such kind and loyal customers who have been so understanding and adaptable, and we are hugely grateful – and sorry for any disruption. We are taking on board all of your comments.

It’s not been a year of complete negatives, though. We received a five-star food hygiene rating in the Food Standards Agency scheme designed to help people make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food – their highest accolade.

We also achieved recognition in several Shropshire awards schemes, including the annual county business awards, and the Chamber Champion competition, run by Shropshire Chamber.

And we were recognised in the Telford and Wrekin Heroes Awards, for businesses and individuals who make a difference in their community and were singled out for showing kindness and amazing community spirit.

It’s always great to be able to give something back to the local community, and one of our most recent initiatives was our ‘win a Christmas hamper’ competition which went to an incredibly deserving cause, who always put herself before others.

We have also sponsored an up-and-coming Telford football star as he takes his first steps on the road of his professional playing career.

We very much see ourselves as part of the community. Next year will be our 45th anniversary, and we look forward to many more years to come.

So once again, on behalf of the entire team, a huge thanks for your support and encouragement this year.

We hope you have a happy, and most importantly of all healthy Christmas, and look forward to seeing you very soon.

Kay Badley, director
