PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: Chicken Oyster Thigh

PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: Chicken Oyster Thigh

If you’re a fan of dark meat on the bone, then you’re going to love our latest product of the week.

We’re often asked about the origin of the name of our Free Range 'Oyster Cut' Chicken Thighs.

Well an ‘oyster’ cut, put simply, means only part of the bone is left in the whole thigh.

Oysters are two small, round pieces of dark meat on the back of poultry near the thigh, in the hollow on the dorsal side.

Some regard the ‘oyster’ meat" to be the most flavourful and tender part of the bird – it has a distinctive taste and texture.

Why the name ‘oyster?’ Because many compare the contours of this part of the chicken to the shape of an oyster. We certainly consider it to be a jewel in our selection…
