Drum roll please . . . we can now reveal the three contenders in the battle to be named the ‘Telford Sausage’ when our taste test takes place in the town centre on October 23.
We asked the people to nominate their favourite recipes for the showpiece of Telford Sausage Week, and these were the most popular choices:
* Pork, Leek and Stilton sausage – a sensational combination of strong cheese and leek, with quality local pork.
* Pork, Jalapeno and Honey, a sweet and sticky combination with a burst of warm jalapeno chilli with a sweet undertone of honey.
* The traditional, no-nonsense Classic Pork – a thick link which is lightly seasoned with a sprinkle of white pepper, and a dash of black pepper.
So there you have it – three most popular suggestions from local people. Now it’s over to the public to put them to the taste test.
A team of butchers from G.N Badley & Sons will be at the Hummingbird Café at Meeting Point House on Saturday morning, cooking up all three sausages and inviting the public to sample them.
All they have to do, in return, is tell us which one is their favourite. At the end of the day – or whenever the sausages have run out – we will be in a position to officially reveal the town’s choice for the quintessential ‘Telford Sausage’.
You’ve got to be in it, to help your favourite win it . . . so come along from 10.30am and give them a try.
