We’re getting in the Christmas mood!

Telford’s family-run butcher G.N. Badley & Sons has got it all wrapped up this Christmas.
It’s never been easier to find the perfect meat feast for your festive table, because there’s something to suit every size, taste, and budget at the store in Gibbons Road, Trench.
An award-winning Kelly Bronze turkey, perhaps? A rolled boneless breast filled with stuffing, and wrapped in dry cured bacon, maybe? Or how about a prime cut of locally-sourced beef, pork, chicken, lamb or goose to get the juices flowing?
Managing director Simon Badley says: “Turkey is the traditional – and still by far the most popular – Christmas Day meat choice. But not all turkeys taste the same. That’s why we only buy from the best.
“Our award-winning, slow-grown, free-range Kelly Bronze turkeys are sourced from the Cartwright family in Condover, near Shrewsbury.
“If you don’t want a whole bird, though, we can offer rolled British turkey breast which is easy to cook and carve, and filled with pure boneless breast meat.
“We can wrap it in smoked dry cured bacon, or stuff it with pork, sage and onion filling to spice things up a little – and we have all the trimmings, from chipolata sausages and pigs in blankets, to goose fat for cooking the perfect roast potatoes.”
But there’s much more to a festive feast these days than turkey.
G.N. Badley & Sons is also stocking a whole chicken or goose, from Brisbourne’s of Nesscliffe, which sit perfectly with all the Christmas trimmings, but are also terrific with a splash of festive spice like cinnamon.
Simon adds: “Beef has never been more popular on the Christmas table, and our cuts – topside, silverside, best rump, sirloin, or rib - are all sourced from Shropshire and Staffordshire farms, and matured in-house.
“And then there’s pork, one of the most adaptable of Christmas meats, which can be glazed with maple sauce, smothered in cider, or stuffed with apple and sage. Our locally-sourced choices include rolled loin, leg or shoulder.”
If lamb’s on your Christmas menu this year, G.N. Badley & Sons is offering winter warmer packages including rolled leg and shoulder, or leg on bone, while the line-up also includes smokes or unsmoked gammon joints, up to 6kg.
And for those who don’t want to be slaving over a hot cooker at Christmas, G.N. Badley & Sons has a range of home-cooked, ready-to-eat meats which are perfect for an informal buffet, or sandwich – served up sliced, or as a joint, plus a menu of buffet and party food.
Simon says: “Why not let us take the strain out of your Christmas shopping by packaging up the perfect combination? Our hampers for either four or eight people are made up from the same high quality, locally-sourced produce as our individual ranges.”
